James Norman Hackney, age 77, passed away September 25, 2025. James served in the United States Navy. And a native of Rutherford County. He was a retired farmer, farrier and musician.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Claiborne Hackney and Oma Mai Duke Hackney; and brother, R.C. Hackney. He is survived by his wife, Emily Hackney; son, Patrick Clay Hackney and wife Kimberly; grandchildren, Sean Hackney, Grace Hackney and Jaclyn Hackney; step daughters, Tara Boyce and husband Chad, Kelly Williams and husband Keith; and six step grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM until time of chapel service at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with Scott Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
