Equine Obituary – Annie's Pipedreams
Wednesday, January 11, 2023

By Dr. Ann L. Johnson
Two-time World Champion Annie’s Pipedreams was humanely euthanized on January 3, 2023. Foaled in 1989, she was purchased by Dr. Ann Johnson as a part of a “two for one deal” from Dr. Gaw of Nolensville, Tennessee. She was by Solidarity and out of Generator’s Annie.
Wally and I showed her as a two and three-year-old. I will never forget the Illinois Walking Horse Show where he won the Novice Plantation Class with her winning out of 20 horses; then, returned to the ring with Crescendo (the other half of the two for deal) in Novice Lite-Shod again beating about 20 horses to win the class. As Wally came out of the ring he looked at me and said “how hard was that?”
I was convinced Annie needed professional training (for starters the fact that if she couldn’t go forward or she would rear) so we took her to Jimmy McConnell in Union City, Tennessee. As the only flat-shod horse in the Formac Stables lineup, she was handed over to Dan Waddell for training. Dan and Annie clicked and she had an outstanding career winning blue ribbons at all the major shows of that era including Dan’s first blue ribbon at the Celebration. She won the Carriage Driving World Championship in 1995 and 1996.
When we brought her home she became a trail horse for Wally being the smoothest horse he had ever ridden and he liked her “motor”.
In 2015, she returned to Tennessee when we relocated after retiring. Dan came to see her and I believe she recognized him right away.
Rest In peace Miss Annie, you had a great ride!
