Monday, January 9, 2023

Lucille Era Taylor Watts went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the age of 93. She was born in Columbia, Mississippi to William Augustus and Vergie Ethridge Taylor on March 26, 1929 and was a lifelong resident of Columbia, MS. She was happily married to James Lewis Watts in 1949 until his death in 1990.
Lucille was an active member of Good Hope Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, sang in the choir and was a member of the WMU Quartette that sang in the local nursing homes once a month. Lucille was employed by Fred’s Discount Store & Pharmacy in Columbia, MS as a customer service clerk. She retired after 30 years of service at the age of 72. Along with studying her Bible and working in her church, Lucille’s favorite pastimes were loving and seeing her grandchildren and working in her yard (where flowers and plants flourished year round).
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her son Dale Watts and wife Lucy, daughter Sherry Watts Rehm and husband Gary and son Greg Watts and wife Chele. Six grandchildren, Jamie Robertson and wife Courtney, Lara Utecht and husband Rhyan, Josh Watts and wife Olivia, Jonathan Watts and wife Kendall, Taylor Watts, and Ashton Breeland and husband Dustin. And eight great grandchildren, Cassidy, Caroline and Reed Robertson, Amanda and Sarah Utecht, J. Parker and Jackson Watts and Lennon Breeland.
There will be a visitation for Lucille at Good Hope Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 9:00am until 11:00am. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Johnny Williams, will follow at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest in the Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery assisted by Jamie Robertson, Ryan Utecht, Josh Watts, Jonathan Watts, Taylor Watts, and Dustin Breeland serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials in Lucille's honor to the Good Hope Baptist Church Building Fund.
