Steve Smith inducted in Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame

Long-time Tennessee Walking Horse owner, exhibitor and breeder Steve Smith was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday July 22, 2023. The ceremony was held at the Omni Hotel in Nashville, Tenn. Smith has served multiple terms as Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ & Exhibitors’ Association, is a ten-time World Champion including an Amateur World Grand Championship and owns Ravenswood Farm, where multiple world champions have been bred.
Smith also pitched for Middle Tennessee State University in the late 1970s and was an integral part of the 1976 OVC championship team at MTSU. Smith currently serves as the Chairman of the MTSU Board of Directors. Smith had hundreds of family and friends from both the MTSU and Tennessee Walking Horse community in attendance at the ceremony including his wife, Denise and two sons, Stephen and Matt. Stephen and Matt have both shown Tennessee Walking Horses following in the footsteps of their father and grandfather. Steve’s father, Reese is also a member of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. Both Reese and Steve are also members of the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration Hall of Fame.
